Spirituality – It Changes

There is a basic premise within the Star of Light: spirituality is the use of God’s energy for health, happiness, and well-being. We define spirituality in practical terms rather than through religious doctrine or scripture. In many ways, spirituality is simply what you do to remain healthy and balanced. It includes the food you eat, the exercise you do, the quality of your sleep, and how you care for your body and mind.

The point we want to make is that spirituality changes as you age.

How Spirituality Changes as You Age

The foundational practices remain the same, breathing techniques, meditation, rituals, and the use of 11:11, all of which we discuss in our free books at thestaroflight.com. However, when you are young, spirituality is often tied to achievement and performance. You express your energy through sports, exercise, dancing, music, and other forms of physical activity that bring joy and excitement.

The Demands of Adult Life

As you grow older, many of those early practices are forgotten as life becomes centered around work, raising a family, and pursuing financial success in a society driven by capitalism and productivity. During these years, people focus heavily on education, relationships, careers, and achievement while relying on the strength of youth to carry them forward.

When the Body Begins to Speak

Eventually, however, the body begins to feel the effects of stress, emotional strain, aging, and unhealthy habits. This is often the point when people begin to seriously examine what is happening within themselves and start to understand spirituality in a deeper and more practical way.

The Ego and Its Illusion

We all develop an ego, and in many ways the ego is an illusion we identify with until life overwhelms us. We want to succeed, accomplish goals, and be recognized for what we do. Often, people push themselves too hard and sacrifice their health in the process. When problems arise, they turn to doctors hoping the suffering will disappear. While modern medicine can be valuable, many treatments focus primarily on symptoms rather than underlying causes.

Often, the real cause is neglecting the basics of health: proper nutrition, rest, balance, and emotional well-being.

When people become sick, they frequently become more natural and begin listening to what their body truly needs rather than what the ego demands. The ego serves an important role on Earth, it protects us and helps us function in society, but it can also distract us from understanding who we truly are.

The Soul Having a Human Experience

We believe each person has a soul that is using the body as part of a human experience. Many people think of life as a human being having occasional spiritual experiences, but perhaps it is the soul that is having the human experience.

This changes the objective of life itself. Instead of focusing entirely on external success and human achievement, perhaps we should place more attention on developing the soul.

Not everyone believes in the soul, but as people witness death, loss, and unexplained experiences, many become more open to the possibility that consciousness continues beyond the physical body. Some traditions believe souls reincarnate and continue learning through multiple lifetimes.

Remaining Open to the Mystery

There are many stories and experiences people point to in support of this idea. I once saw a video of a five-year-old child drawing complex Tesla-like electrical circuits without any training in this lifetime. The child claimed to have been Nikola Tesla in a past life. Whether or not such stories are literally true, they encourage us to remain open-minded about the mysteries of consciousness and human experience.

If you pay close attention to people, it can sometimes seem as though they are carrying patterns, emotions, or experiences from another time. Perhaps they are working through karma, learning lessons, or continuing a larger journey of growth.

The important thing is to remain open to possibilities, because many of us may not fully understand what is truly happening in life.
