People often ask me, “What is peace?”
Is it the traditional definition, the absence of fighting, where everyone works in harmony with one another and creates a win-win situation? That is certainly the definition we often use in practice. But there is another definition of peace that we support: being in alignment with nature.
What Is Peace? Alignment with Nature and God
What does that mean?
It means being aware that energy surrounds us, and that this energy is God. It is an awareness of consciousness. To experience peace, you have to be in alignment with God. One of the requirements for this is love, which, in its more advanced state, means recognizing that we are one with each other.
This seldom happens in today’s world because of the ego and our pursuit of individual goals, such as making more money or continually trying to improve our lives from a materialistic perspective.
Oneness in the Universe
You have to remember that there is oneness in the universe. There is no true separation, even though separation is how most people experience the world. Everyone is born out of consciousness, and everyone returns to consciousness when we finish this life. Peace is unity with God.
Many spiritual people talk about their soul merging with God. When you experience that awareness while still in the body, you begin to realize that you come from God and possess qualities of God.
The Wave and the Ocean
You can think of it as a wave in the ocean. The ocean is God, or all that exists, and the wave is your spirit, a part of the ocean that has a moment of existence before returning to its source.
Our minds often think in terms of “I,” “you,” and “mine.” But in reality, we are not separate from God or the source of energy. Some people may say this is nonsense, but from our perspective, there is nothing else. Many people may not see God as the answer, but Jesus consistently preached love and peace.
To become aware that we are part of God is an awakening, and practicing that awareness is at the heart of peace.
Forgiveness and Letting Go of Attachment
Peace is an energetic state that also allows you to be your natural self. Along the way, you have to learn how to forgive and move on. This does not mean that you stop having emotions or stop caring about what happens. Rather, it means recognizing the difference between natural feelings and the man-made energies of fear, anger, control, and attachment that can keep you from being free and living in a natural state.
You must also learn to release your attachment to a particular outcome. Everything comes and goes, and we do not have complete control over what happens. We can influence events, but ultimately, many things simply play out as another moment in our lives.
Peace and the Path of Enlightenment
You can think of peace as part of the process of enlightenment, recognizing that you are more than your physical body. In that sense, peace becomes an important part of the journey of life. It is something worth working toward because, when we die, we may be preparing to return to the source and become one with God.
We may not begin life with all of the vibrational qualities of God, but if we learn from our experiences and the lessons of each incarnation, we can continue moving toward that awareness.
Reincarnation and the Polished Diamond
I think that is the purpose of reincarnation. It is a process of gaining the frequencies and qualities that we were not born with but must learn. We are like rough diamonds that need to be polished so we can radiate light and reflect the essence of our true qualities.
When you recognize that you are really your spirituality manifesting as a material being, you begin to see God in everything you do.
That awareness is peace.
