Soft golden sunrise over a calm tropical bay with green foliage and still water

One Love – Nothing at All

I am sitting in Kauai eating breakfast and am watching the sun come up. I had an idea to write about nothing at all. What I mean by this is that I stopped checking my emails the first thing in the morning and I just made breakfast with nothing to do at all. It is kind of a strange thing when you are feeling good and you decide to do nothing and just let things unfold. I have no agenda. I do realize that my body is here and it is breathing. I consciously check in and feel how my heart is doing and if I have any aches and pains. I take time to watch the sunrise and realize that life goes on with or without me.

Energy That Carries You On

At 77 most of life has gone and I think that you can spend you time directing your energy, but the fact that energy exists independent of you and it exists in your body is very important. It will carry you on in its own right. Today is like Zen ay, which is a Buddhist concept that emphasis personal insight into you own inner wisdom (body and mind) to find peace and compassion. We interpret Zen to mean that there is a presence, or an energy that just flows that you can call it consciousness, that just exists and getting in contact with it by doing nothing, will help you understand reality.

The Simplicity of Breath

By doing nothing, the only thing and the easiest thing that you can do is to focus on your breath while you are in a calm state of being. In this way, you can experience life through the interaction between God in our sense and your own energy. It is very simple. You breath in and breath out. There is no idea of doing anything. You do nothing but reflect on your own reality. There is no traditional religion. It is just a practical prescence.

Letting the Day Unfold

What happens, is that you let the day just unfold. After breakfast, I take a little walk and look at Hanalei Bay and the waves that are coming in. I see the birds fly around and the green foliage on the trees. The sun’s reflects are everywhere. The color in the sky and the freshness of a brand new day. This is in total contrast to a life of working and setting priorities and having numerous meetings.

I drink some water and feel its cooling properties as it goes down. I know that things will pop up to do and I am ready for them when they arrive. While I take the walk, a neighbor says hi and comments on the wonderful day. I say hi back and a conversation of pleasantries unfold. Nothing profound, just a comment on the weather, the rain last night but she brings up the fact that there is a farmers market in town today, if you want to buy some fresh food and enjoy some music.

Activity That Happens by Chance

I think about it and I have nothing to do, so I decide to go to the market. It just unfolds. It is kind of nice to have a day when nothing really matters and your activity happens by chance. So I take my swim suit and go for a swim after the market. I didn’t shave or shower first, like I have done for years and just did what seemed natural.

A Unified Field of Consciousness

There is a unified field out in the universe with its own consciousness. It is nice to let it lead you, in contrast to just doing something that your ego often dictates and your personality requires. Afterwards, I pick up the guitar and play a few songs. I try to capture what is happening in the words I sing and just let it be. Kind of like the Beatle’s song by Paul McCartney. There is a lot of truth in this way of existence. I can always go back and be filled with things to do with no purpose, but today it is just to experience life. Note a bad thing to do every now and then.
