America certainly has a lot of judgment. I hear people judging others everywhere I go. At parking lots to drug stores. They say that it is shameful to do this or that. Often, it goes even further, prejudice is a form of judgment and there is no lack of it. When this happens, I like referring to the Human Map of Consciousness and seeing how a person is acting Generally if you are not supporting life, then you are below the number 200 and if you are support life and acts with cooperation and forgiveness, you are above 200. You judge much less above 200 and you can see the 17 themes as they are on the Internet to see what you are dealing with.
Judgment as Hypocrisy
Jesus said that you should avoid any hypocritical and harsh condemnation of others. Benjamin Franklin always avoided arguments. I find people have so much judgment on almost anything, it is like an ego expressing itself. I parked my car in a parking lot, and one mom was telling her daughter that I screwed up. I heard her say that I must have gone up the wrong way, without asking me. They were totally wrong! I pulled in from the space before it. Amazing!. I read the news and almost everything is biased. Especially if you are a Republican or a Democrat and whether you like war or profits. Why not just tell the facts and leave it up to the reader?
Do Not Judge, or You Too Will Be Judged
In Matthew 7:1-5, Jesus says do not judge or you too will be judged. He couldn’t be more right. Hypocrisy is everywhere. I love “love and peace” and realize that to judge means that you generally don’t often see the whole picture and that you have a limited point of view, let alone this tells a lot about you. If this is the case, you might be keeping negative emotions alive in your body. This is not good for you. It is okay to have opinions about things, but you have to have some basis that supports it. Spiritually, we are all learning and if you believe in love and peace, you have at least a moral basis to pass opinion on something. I generally just prefer to be curious and often ask questions to get the facts before passing judgment.
The Roots of Judgment: Fear and Insecurity
Often judgment is a reflection of your own personal fears and insecurities. I find that having compassion for others is a much better way to go. It frees you up from negative thoughts. And you can often create goodwill by using judgment and constructive input, instead of downright judgement. When I go to areas in the southwest and if I say that I am from California, and am a Democrats it creates quite a stir. I find it is better to just keep my mount shut, so people can not judge you.
Judging by Appearance
One of the biggest judgements that I have found, seems to be the clothe that you wear. In business, it used to be suits and ties. Anyone who wears a nice shirt or even jeans is often thought inferior to those that dress up. You have to use your own judgment, but things have changed and you need to know the circumstances before you blurt out your opinion. There is so much that goes into making a decision that you may as well just accept things for what they are and try to be present. It so much safer.
When You Judge By Mistake
If you accidentally judge someone, you can say that you were hasty and that you made a mistake. You can apologize. It is not hard to do and it often easies the situation and allows other things to follow. You can explain why you said what you did, that is if the other person is able to hear it. If you are pre judging someone, just remember how faulty universal generalizations are and that you are often wrong.
