A podcaster approached me last week and asked if I would participate in a joint podcast about the significance of the Harmonic Convergence, which took place on August 17, 1987, nearly four decades ago.
Gathering on the Sacred Mountains
To us, the Harmonic Convergence marked the beginning of the Star of Light. It was a time when people around the world gathered to meditate for peace. Approximately 144,000 people assembled at sacred locations such as Mount Shasta in California, Mount Fuji in Japan, and Yamnuska in Canada. I was on top of Mount Shasta with about 10,000 other people, along with my family and my future wife. I also had friends who placed crystals in various locations around the Earth with the intention of raising the planet’s frequency. It was believed to be a special moment marked by a rare planetary alignment and the completion of a cycle in the Mayan calendar.
Twenty-five years later, in the winter of 2012, many believed we would enter the Age of Aquarius and begin a new spiritual cycle. According to this belief, Thoth would return to help humanity. I view Thoth as one of the Anunnaki who, along with his father, created humanity in their own image, as described in the Bible. They are also credited with naming many of the stars and constellations that we recognize today. I believe Thoth understood the significance of the Harmonic Convergence and that this knowledge was reflected in the ancient calendars of Mesoamerica.
The Meaning of 11:11 and V-MAP
During this time, I also gave new meaning to the number 11:11, inspired by the writings of Solara. To me, 11:11 represents Love, Light, Life, and Living—the flow of energy from the intentional dimension into the mental, emotional, and physical dimensions. This became connected with my concept of V-MAP, which stands for Vision, Mission, Action, and Product. A clear vision becomes a mission, a mission inspires proper action, and those actions produce meaningful results.
Many supporters of the Harmonic Convergence believed humanity would transition from war, materialism, injustice, and oppression into an age of love and peace. Love and peace remain the foundation of the One Love philosophy.
What Has Actually Happened?
But what has actually happened?
Despite what many believed would be an influx of higher energy to the Earth, we continue to witness war, conflict, and division throughout the world. Love and peace often seem more like distant dreams than present realities. We see conflicts involving the United States and Iran, the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia, and continued political unrest in places such as Venezuela, Greenland, and Cuba. Many people are struggling financially, and inequality appears to be increasing rather than decreasing.
When you study the history surrounding the Harmonic Convergence, you encounter Quetzalcoatl, whom some traditions associate with Enki’s son and with Thoth. He is connected with the ancient Mesoamerican calendar that José Argüelles and his wife used as the inspiration for organizing the Harmonic Convergence through the Planet Art Network. That calendar marked the completion of a great cycle of human history. Around the same period, David Hawkins, through his Human Map of Consciousness, described humanity as reaching a point where we could begin shifting from destroying life to supporting life.
Reflecting on Forty Years
As I reflect on these past forty years, I wonder how much has truly changed.
Today, approximately 20,000 people follow our work through Facebook and Google, and we offer many of our books free of charge to anyone who is interested. Many people genuinely believe in love and peace, but belief alone is not enough.
The central message of the Star of Light is that God is Energy rather than the religious doctrines traditionally associated with Judaism, Christianity, or Islam. Our philosophy is more closely aligned with Buddhism and the Tao, emphasizing that what truly matters is how you care for your body, your consciousness, and your energy.
We define spirituality as the wise use of energy to create health, happiness, and well-being.
Energy, Health, and Modern Life
At this stage of my life, I see many people suffering from cancer and other chronic illnesses that I believe are influenced by modern society through chemicals, pollution, radiation, poor nutrition, and other environmental factors. Too often, our healthcare system focuses on treating symptoms rather than addressing their underlying causes. Many processed foods contain excessive amounts of sugar and other unhealthy ingredients that contribute to declining health.
Did the Dream Come True?
So, did the dream of the Harmonic Convergence really come true?
In many ways, I believe it still has a long way to go. While its ideals continue to live on through the Star of Light and others who share similar beliefs, the world has yet to fully embrace the vision of love, peace, and higher consciousness.
My hope is that more people will reconsider their beliefs, become more conscious of the energy they bring into the world, and continue the work that the Harmonic Convergence inspired nearly forty years ago.
