An older man sitting peacefully outdoors in nature, reflecting on the meaning of life

Mental – What Is It All About?

Each day, I find myself wondering what life is really about. I’m 77 years old and have raised four children, two of my own and two adopted. At this stage of life, I still have a great deal of energy, and I often reflect on the meaning of it all.

When I was younger, this question rarely crossed my mind. I was busy starting businesses and helping people, sometimes five individuals a day. Over time, I built many friendships and pursued my own interests, from off-roading to even building an airplane.

A Life Well Lived

Today, I stay active. I kayak, hike, and spend time outdoors. Two of my sons work with me, my daughter runs a large organization, and my other son is a sous chef who enjoys creating food. I see them all regularly and value those moments. I also cherish the time I spend with my wife—we play cards together every night.

Yet despite all this, I still look both backward and forward and ask: What is life really about?

One Love and the Search for Purpose

I love nature, and I find meaning in helping others and enjoying simple pleasures. But beyond that, I sometimes struggle to define a deeper purpose. I created One Love to encourage people to live with love and peace from an energetic perspective, and the response has been positive. I’ve written five books in total, with two more ready to release, which I plan to offer for free.

At a certain point, some pursuits no longer seem to make sense, like starting a new business solely to earn more money when you already have enough. Yes, it could lead to more travel or new experiences, but if you’ve already seen the places that matter to you, the motivation fades.

Beauty, Connection, and the Limits of Society

I live in Marin County, California, surrounded by open space, water, and mountains. It’s a beautiful place. I have meaningful conversations with friends and family, yet I sometimes feel that these interactions don’t significantly change the bigger picture.

Society often feels chaotic. Nations compete for power and resources, sometimes driven by fear and misinformation. While a few systems support their people well, many do not, leaving individuals with limited control and persistent anxiety.

The Challenge Facing Younger Generations

I also see growing challenges for younger generations. The population is increasing, costs are rising, and life is becoming more complex. Even with access to AI and the internet, clarity seems harder to find. For example, buying a home in Marin County is extremely difficult without family support due to high prices, taxes, and interest rates.

It feels like we live in a cycle of learning and forgetting, of progress mixed with confusion. Beliefs vary widely. Some follow traditional religion, while others search for meaning in different ways. For me, I think in terms of energy, something universal that connects us and influences our lives directly.

What Do We Do With the Question?

So what do we do? Continue as we are and accept a certain routine? I see many relationships struggle or fall apart due to changing needs and lack of connection. It raises the question again: What is it all about?

In the grand scheme of the universe, life on Earth can feel insignificant. We are tiny in comparison. But perhaps the answer lies in something deeper—what we might call the soul. Maybe it comes here to experience, to learn, and to grow.

Following Intuition and the Flow of Life

If that’s the case, then following your intuition and going with the flow of life may be enough. That path can feel more meaningful than chasing external goals that often seem disconnected or chaotic.

There is joy, of course, but where does it lead? Is it simply about finding moments of satisfaction before it all ends?

That’s something worth pondering.
