A powerful anti-nuclear visual

Consciousness and Nuclear Testing

A Dangerous Decision

Trump has just decided to resume nuclear testing. Is he out of his mind?

The Peace Symbol and Its Origins

In the Star of Light mandala, the symbol in the lower right is the peace symbol. It was originally created by Gerald Holtom in 1958 for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. Its design came from semaphore signals: the “N” (for nuclear) shows one arm down and one to the side, and the “D” (for disarmament) is a straight vertical line. In the 1960s, the peace movement adopted it as a symbol of peace for all humanity.

The Global Threat

Since 1945, the world has produced 125,000 nuclear weapons—enough to kill everyone many times over. Although there have been agreements to reduce stockpiles, we now face the prospect of more nuclear testing. Nine countries currently possess nuclear weapons, and the U.S., Russia, France, China, and North Korea have conducted more than 2,000 nuclear tests. Many of these tests caused serious disasters. What is this renewed interest for? Because of the war in Ukraine? To show Putin how strong Trump or the U.S. is?

Consciousness and the Peace Symbol

In the Star of Light system, the downward line in the peace symbol represents consciousness, while the three outward lines represent our mental, emotional, and physical dimensions. Our leaders lack this consciousness. When we define peace in terms of cooperation, willingness, reason, love, or joy, it’s obvious they are still stuck in the “non-supportive” phase of David Hawkins’ Human Map of Consciousness.

Leaders Without Awareness

If they truly supported life, they would lead with positive emotions. Instead, anger, pride, one-upmanship, and greed dominate. Many of them carry unresolved childhood issues and give little thought to the wellbeing of the Earth. Have you ever heard Trump admit a mistake? I haven’t. And so we continue an ancient pattern of conflict—an echo of the Anunnaki struggles from early mythic history. Do we ever learn?

Religion and Old Patterns

Religion doesn’t help much, because we end up praising the Anunnaki and accepting a kind of slave mentality that allows others to control us. If we want to stop nuclear testing, we must speak up. Too often we are naïve and passive. We must believe in cooperation, and acknowledge that nuclear testing—and nuclear warfare—are horrific. Even in the Bible, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah is linked to a conflict between the Enki (Ptah) and Enlil lines, leaving behind the Dead Sea, which still contains radiation.

The Devastating Legacy of Nuclear Tests

The half-life of uranium is 4.46 billion years. Consider Chernobyl, the French tests in Micronesia, and the U.S. tests in Nevada and the Marshall Islands. Nuclear testing causes cancer and numerous other long-term health effects. Radioactive material travels with the wind and contaminates vast areas. And do we ever hold politicians responsible for decisions with consequences lasting thousands of years? Rarely. Meanwhile, nuclear weapons fuel arms races and poison our water and land.

The Call to Act

Consciousness means awareness of the consequences of our actions. Many of our leaders simply lack this awareness. Write to your representatives and protest. People have done so for decades—and it still matters. It is not too late.
