I have been corresponding with a follower who says that One Love is a New Age belief system. I had never thought of it that way; it honestly never crossed my mind. My only intention was to help the world realize that love and peace are worth believing in. I grew tired of wars and religions fighting each other.
Defining “New Age”
A New Age belief system is often described as diverse, emphasizing personal experiences such as meditation and breathing. It frequently focuses on self-divinity and universal consciousness and draws from Eastern religions through concepts like reincarnation and karma. Under that definition, one could say we do fit within the New Age framework, as we believe in the Age of Aquarius, the Harmonic Convergence, and practices that improve personal well-being. We emphasize energy and how it can be used to improve our condition. We talk about vibration and frequency.
Jesus and the Missing Years
The follower then went on to say that the world should simply believe in Jesus and that everything else was meaningless. That is an interesting statement, especially since the Church has made Jesus a central figure, and he appears in the first image of One Love. What Jesus believed in included many Eastern philosophies. It is widely believed that he spent his “missing years,” about 18 years, in the Orient, studying healing techniques and various philosophies. In that sense, he embodied what we might now call New Age ideas long before the term existed. He preached love and peace, and he should be honored for that. He was right.
The Path to Personal Transformation
The real question is how one gets there. We believe the path to love and peace comes through personal transformation, through understanding and using different energies and realizing that you are connected to God through your core Star of Light. Jesus was often depicted with a halo, and Christianity speaks of “letting your light shine.” What light? Your aura and your SOL connection.
Love Over Fear
If you feel that the way to God is through religion and becoming a good person, more power to you. We define a good person as someone who is at peace and embraces love. Religious paths may lead there for some, though they often rely on a controlling social structure built on fear of God as a person. We believe God is pure love and exists as a universal mind field that gives us consciousness. Who truly knows?
Cooperation and Archetypes
It is a good foundation to treat people with love and peace and to view life as a blessing. After all, we are just a spark in a multifaceted world. Some of our values come from archetypes used in the creation of the universe, such as numbers and sacred geometry. Cooperation and working together seem to us to be the philosophy that truly works. Whether Jesus actually preached this himself or it was later shaped by the Council of Nicaea, the message of love and peace was, and still is, right on.
