Love and Peace – The Circle

The Sacred Meaning of the Circle

One of the most important symbols of One Love is the circle. Simple yet powerful, the circle is central to many of our rituals and events. Before a ceremony, we often form a circle, inviting the directions, the Earth, Father Sky, and Mother Earth. Sometimes, I hold up a star tetrahedron to form a Merkaba, creating a protective mind-field around everyone and honoring our sacred space.

Rituals that Feed the Soul

Rituals feed the soul and give life meaning. We celebrate the spring equinox, occasionally the full moon, and other special moments. These ceremonies create bonding, celebration, and new beginnings. Standing or sitting in a circle, we envision God at the center, with each of us reflecting a spark of divinity. Circles build community, strengthen those in need, and allow collective intention to flourish. Often, someone will read a poem, followed by a simple meditation to open hearts.

Circles in Communication and Business

The power of the circle is not unique to spirituality. In business, circles facilitate discussion, ensuring everyone can see one another and communicate openly. In a circle, we take responsibility for our words and actions. Sometimes, we use a talking object, a shell or stone, so that each person speaks in peace while others listen. Participants may share what an event or discussion means to them, further fostering connection.

Energetic Connection and Equality

In our rituals, we often hold hands, moving energy from right to left. The circle amplifies authentic voices, creating a boundary of energy for our souls. Meals are often shared in a circle, or around a table arranged in a circle, emphasizing equality and connection. In the Star of Light philosophy, the circle represents God. Some interpret it as Christ, but we encourage personal belief.

Historical and Cultural Significance

Circles appear throughout history and culture. Native Americans used the medicine wheel, while labyrinths are essentially sets of concentric circles that resonate with our chakra circles, especially when enhanced with color. Circles also carry tradition, as elders pass knowledge to those being initiated. From an energetic perspective, a circle mapped over time resembles an electromagnetic wave, one of the most powerful forces in life.

Practical Uses for Transformation

We use circles in many practical ways. Altars are often circular, drumming circles induce trance and meditation, and musical ensembles frequently form circles, placing singers or focal instruments at the center. The rhythm and shared energy of a circle are transformative.

If you use circles in your life, spiritual, cultural, or practical, I’d love for you to share your experience. Circles hold real energy and significance in our lives, and their influence is universal.
