Last night I attended a spirituality group of people at a Community Church where a friend of mine was signing and coordinating it. I was amazed that I wasn’t the oldest person there. In fact from looking at the 50 or so people there, I was probably in the middle age being 77. We were all celebrating spirituality by singing, saying poems and dancing in the isles. It was quite a site to see. My friend sang the Woodstock song and many of the people there seemed to have been in their prime when Woodstock in Ny had 500,000 gather together for days of music, love and peace.
The Woodstock Song and a Generation Looking Back
The Woodstock song from the festival in NY in 1969 and was sang by Joni Mitchell, it had a lot of my friends going. I have meet some of the people who played there. It was as a reality check as it all resonated with all of us and when my friend gave a concert a few decades ago he also sang the same song. I had known half at his then concerts. At yesterday’s concert, they have all died and the survivors who are left were there from prior concerts. Life has really changed. It was our generation that screwed up a lot of the world while a few of us are left, and are we are seeking love and peace. Weird!!
Why We Grow More Spiritual as We Get Older
I always held the view that the older you get and the closer to the end time, you become more spiritual and realize that we are all one. At the gathering there were beautiful dressed women of all color and a client of mine read a Rumi poem. I couldn’t believe that I was there, as my wife wasn’t feeling well and couldn’t make it. I had known the Emmy award winning performer for decades. He was a great song writer and concert player for decades. Now he decided to try and bring love and peace to the world. As we sure didn’t!
A Spirituality Group in Line With the Star of Light
It was a very beautiful endeavor and it was is right in line with what Jesus taught and what the Star of Light stands for. The people chanted peace songs that were not religious, but many references to God were made as the force behind life and our energy. Spirituality is the use of our energy for its affect on your body and you could tell that positive energy was everyplace. People talked to each other and there were no barriers because someone was black or white. It was very refreshing.
Chants of Kindness in a World at War
One of the chants was “We Sing in the Name of One” another was kindness to the world. When you look at what our leaders have been doing, you think that you are on another planet. We were singing about Spirit and Open Hearts. People are killing and ruining many people’s lives. There couldn’t be any more of a contrast. We were all sharing love and praising the fact that we are alive while so many people are dying in wars.
Present in the Moment, Opening Our Hearts
We were all present in this moment of time and are thankful for it. It seems like Utopia, for those that believe in us being one. Persian food was served after the festival that gave peace a chance. We opened our hearts and let those with love come in and share its praise with song. It was beautiful. We all took breathes and practiced a vibrational meditation in the songs that felt like chants, putting us all into an altered state.
Returning to Everyday Reality
Then when you home and face the traffic, its another reality. It is filled with ego and personal greed and pride greed. The Church was high up on a hill in Tiburon, CA, overlooking the water and San Francisco Bay. It is kind of hard to realize the beauty that we have in this world and not appreciate being spiritual. We are all human and that is the one thing that brings us all toghether, albeit at a later time in our life.
