What Good Is Consciousness If Our Leaders Are Unconscious?
What good is consciousness if our leaders are unconscious? In the Star of Light, one of the tools we use is the Human Map of Consciousness (HMOC) developed by David Hawkins. This model identifies 17 levels of consciousness based on energy vibration, ranging from 1 to 1000, derived from thousands of kinesiology tests. In ascending order, the levels are: shame, guilt, apathy, grief, fear, desire, anger, pride, courage, neutrality, willingness, acceptance, reason, love, joy, peace, and enlightenment.
How Consciousness Reflects in Modern Politics
How many politicians you read about are truly willing to accept compromise? Very few—if any—in our polarized two-party system. Many seem driven by fear, anger, and pride. According to Hawkins, the levels below neutrality are non–life-sustaining, while those above neutrality are life-supporting. He estimated that the majority of people function below neutrality, and thus operate from non–life-supporting energy.
Parallels Between the HMOC and the Chakra System
The HMOC parallels the chakra system, where each chakra has both positive and negative qualities. Many politicians, being self-centered, often express the lower-vibration aspects—fear, guilt, shame—rather than higher qualities such as love or peace. They frequently distort truth and appear disconnected from their higher selves.
Examining Today’s Global Leadership
Look at today’s global leadership:
- Vladimir Putin of Russia, spreading misinformation and waging war.
- Donald Trump in the United States, often vindictive and blaming others, especially political opponents.
- Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, whose actions in Gaza perpetuate cycles of violence.
Across regions, from Africa to Asia, we find leaders relying on force and control rather than consciousness and compassion. Those who rise to the top are too often driven by ego and power, not enlightenment.
If we are to save our planet, we must embrace love and peace—energies found only among the most conscious individuals. Hawkins suggested that only about 1% of humanity vibrates at the level of love, and perhaps a handful of individuals reach the level of peace. Those who do often transcend the physical plane and connect deeply with the soul’s higher dimensions.
The Path Toward Conscious Leadership
So what is the solution?
We must elect leaders based on skills, integrity, and consciousness, not marketing or money. Unfortunately, society still values power and control above spiritual awareness. Ideally, candidates for public office should be evaluated using conscious criteria—perhaps even tested for their level of awareness through the HMOC or chakra-based assessments.
How Religion and History Shaped Unconscious Leadership
Religion has also contributed to the problem. According to ancient Sumerian accounts, the Anunnaki—beings who “created us in their image”—introduced civilization but also conflict. Humanity has inherited their patterns of division and domination. Much of organized religion, shaped centuries later, perpetuates these misunderstandings. For example, Abraham lived long before the Kaaba was built; there was no verified Jewish exodus from Egypt; and Christianity did not take its current form until the Council of Nicaea in 325 CE. The Torah attributed to Moses was compiled centuries later.
Awakening Humanity Through Awareness
We continue to elect leaders for the wrong reasons—not from understanding, but from ignorance, fear, and manipulation. The path forward lies in awareness. By requiring future leaders to demonstrate spiritual and energetic consciousness—through something like the HMOC or chakra-based assessments—we may finally begin to elect individuals capable of guiding humanity with wisdom, compassion, and truth.
