Spirituality – Life After Death

In many ways, we live knowing that one day we will die. During our lives, we develop our sense of self, our individuality, and our ego. As we grow older and come closer to the end of life, understanding what comes next often becomes an important priority.

Understanding Life After Death

According to the work of Michael Newton, Carl Jung, and Edgar Cayce, there is a fairly consistent sequence of events that occurs after death. Of course, this perspective requires a belief in the soul and the continuation of life beyond physical death. These authors and researchers have written numerous books and produced many lectures and videos on the subject.

The Secret to a Purposeful Life

From watching interviews and documentaries about older people, I have found that the secrets to longevity include not only healthy food and regular exercise, often something as simple as walking—but also having a sense of purpose. No matter how small that purpose may seem, it provides motivation to keep moving forward. It may be gardening, making a phone call, helping a neighbor, or completing a simple daily task that a younger person might consider insignificant.

The Soul’s Journey and My Own Visit

Understanding the death process and what happens when the soul leaves the body is, in my view, important. My understanding is that we are greeted by other souls who have been awaiting our arrival. We are then given an opportunity to review our lives and examine what we have learned. This experience reveals that life continues after death, but in another dimension that is not based on physical matter. Instead, it is a realm of energy and consciousness existing at different frequencies. During a Biogeometry workshop I attended, pendulums were used that were said to resonate with these subtle energies.

During a personal visit to this dimension, everything appeared brighter, more vibrant, and more alive. I met guides, elders, and teachers. I also saw my mother and father as they were when they were young, energetic, and full of life. Many religions offer their own interpretations of the afterlife and how one reaches it. My own experience led me to a different conclusion: that the soul leaves the body at death and continues its own journey until it eventually chooses to incarnate again.

Past Lives and Soul Agreements

I have seen what I believe to be souls and have even captured images of them. In my view, these were once people like you and me. One of the fascinating aspects of reincarnation is the possibility of remembering experiences from previous lifetimes and continuing lessons or skills developed long ago. I remember being a Roman Army archer in a previous life, and in this lifetime I was naturally drawn to archery as well.

I also believe that my wife and I entered into a spiritual agreement before this lifetime. Part of my role was to help her and, perhaps, to make amends for mistakes I had made in a previous incarnation.

Soul Groups and Shared Journeys

Many spiritual traditions teach that souls incarnate in groups. Parents, children, friends, and companions may return together through multiple lifetimes, helping one another learn and grow. Over the years, I have worked with two separate soul groups consisting of ten or more individuals. It was fascinating to observe how their relationships unfolded in this lifetime. Members of each group recognized their spiritual connection and naturally supported one another on their respective journeys.

Learning More About the Soul

For those interested in learning more about the soul, I consider Michael Newton’s books among the most informative. His work is based on thousands of interviews with clients and attempts to map the spiritual realm in remarkable detail. When studying the teachings of Edgar Cayce and Carl Jung, I found many similarities in their descriptions of what happens after death. Their ideas are broadly consistent with the framework Newton developed through his research into past-life regression and life-between-lives experiences.

I have personally participated in these types of journeys and gained insights into what I might expect after death. Whether one agrees with these ideas or not, I believe there is value in spending time contemplating what may happen beyond this life. Doing so can make the prospect of death less frightening and help us view life as a spiritual journey, one that brings us closer to a greater source of energy, consciousness, and divine presence.
