Many people ask me, “What is a spiritual life?” This question comes up often, especially since the Star of Light’s One Love philosophy is centered around that idea.
Spirituality vs. Religion: A Different Foundation
For us, a spiritual life is a conscious, energy-based way of living. It focuses on personal growth, which is somewhat different from traditional religion, where fear and control are sometimes emphasized. Instead, spirituality is an attitude in which you recognize that you are responsible for your own life and that God exists within you. It is not the same as following a specific religious tradition such as Christianity, Islam, or Judaism. Rather, it is built on understanding yourself.
Working With Your Energy Components
In this approach, you look at your energy components and try to maximize their flow. Your mental energy involves maintaining a positive outlook on life and supporting life in all its forms.
Your emotional energy often reflects what you believe. In our philosophy, we encourage people to express their feelings, especially those connected to compassion, love, and peace. These qualities are found in many religions, and they are also central to the Star of Light’s One Love philosophy. The key difference is that we see God as directly connected to you and your soul. In this view, God cannot be separated from who you are; God is part of you.
Meditation, Self-Reflection, and the One Love Path
Some people might describe this as a New Age approach, and it does share certain similarities with New Age spirituality and with Buddhism. Practices such as meditation and self-reflection help you look within to understand God and your true nature. There are no strict laws in this philosophy, but we do have writings and reflections about love and peace that remind us of the important themes in life.
The Meaning of 11:11 and V-MAP
One of the more unique aspects of the One Love philosophy is the idea of working with the flow of energy within your intentional, mental, emotional, and physical self. This flow of energy is symbolized by 11:11, which represents love, light, life, and living.
When applied to society or business, we refer to this as the 11:11 tool, also known as V-MAP. V-MAP stands for Vision, Mission, Action, and Performance. Your vision shapes your mission, and through action you bring that mission into reality. This concept can be used in both personal life and business planning.
In this framework, love represents your intentions, light reflects the patterns and archetypes found in sacred geometry and symbolic systems, life represents the spark of energy that God placed within you, and living represents your interactions with others in society.
It is a practical philosophy that evolves as new knowledge emerges about energy, vibration, and the nature of life. Anyone can contribute to it. It looks both to the wisdom of the past and to the possibilities of the future.
Your Core Star of Light: A Biological Connection to the Divine
One major difference between traditional religion and the Star of Light philosophy is the belief that every person is biologically connected to God through what we call a “core star of light” located near the center of the body. Because of this connection, we see ourselves as Star of Light brothers and sisters. We also honor Mother Earth and recognize her relationship with the sun and the other planets.
Self-Love, Cooperation, and Living Authentically
Ultimately, the result of the One Love philosophy is self-love. We encourage people to develop themselves through a deeper awareness of energy. In truth, people are already doing this through their life experiences—so why not study and understand the process more consciously?
We also believe that human beings can learn from the way the body works. Your cells cooperate with one another and serve the health of the entire body. In a similar way, human society works best when people cooperate and support each other.
Too often, people believe that life is only about competition or survival of the fittest. We see this as an incomplete understanding of life. Cooperation and community are just as important as strength or intelligence.
Finally, we value truth. Too often governments and institutions operate through fear or control, which can restrict the natural flow of human energy. Our goal is to encourage freedom so that individuals can develop their unique abilities and live authentically.
A Spiritual Life Is Your True Self
In the end, a spiritual life is about freedom, self-discovery, and becoming your true self. By doing so, you allow the full potential of your mind, body, and spirit to develop—and that is the most any of us can truly become.
